Top 7 Ways to Get Fit This Year

With warm weather right around the corner, you might already be thinking about getting into shape. But with a busy schedule, finding the right time and place to exercise can be difficult.

Brownsburg Parks is here to help! The first step is to follow the seven tips below. We hope we can be a partner in your fitness journey!

Set tangible athletic goals

 

Make sure your drive to get in shape goes beyond the scale. Signing up for a bike race or fun run gives you a concrete goal to work towards. We’ll host three Hendricks County Fun Runs this summer: June 10 in Arbuckle Acres Park, July 1 in Williams Park, and August 26 in Cardinal Park and along the B&O Trail. If you’re looking for more motivation, take photos of your journey! While you may be reluctant to take a “before” photo, having a visual reminder of where you started can help push you towards your goals.

Join a fitness class

When you’re first starting out, joining a gym can seem daunting. Taking one of our fitness classes helps you establish a sense of community and build up your confidence. Our classes are designed to meet the needs of beginners to those looking to work up a sweat. Check out our list of classes here.

Change up your routine

Don’t be afraid to change up your routine! Not only will this keep you from getting bored, but it also helps contribute to better strength and endurance. Pace yourself

Don’t go from non-stop couch potato to trying to run a mile every day. Incorporating your new lifestyle slowly will help you stick with it. Remember, it doesn’t matter how long you’re working out. The fact that you’re doing something is enough.

Exercise in visually interesting places

Find a workout partner

Having someone to hold you accountable for your fitness goals can go a long way in helping you achieve success.

Enlist your dog
