2017 Annual Report

FROM THE DIRECTOR:

Brownsburg Parks takes the trust the community puts in our team to meet their quality of life needs very
seriously. Every year, our goal is to maximize our resources in order to provide residents with quality parks
and recreation services.

In 2017:
-The Department completed a new Community Needs Assessment using a statistically valid, random
survey. (Our last survey was conducted in 2012.) This is important data that will steer the development
of our 2019-2024 Strategic Master Plan. Work begins on this document this spring.

-An advisory committee made up of staff and area residents met shortly after the Williams Park
gazebos were taken down last fall due to excessive deterioration. This committee developed a new
design plan for the entry circle and surrounding areas.

-An advisory committee provided input to the Park Board that assisted Parks in updating our Zone
Improvement Plan and Recreation Impact Fee. These funds are essential to helping the park system
keep pace with community growth through park infrastructure development.

-Important steps were taken by the Park Board and the Town Council to acquire 51 acres of park land
that will meet a variety of community needs.
